Money & Korean Employment?
People are so messed up… I don't know… there is like good sides bad sides with everything. There is no perfection. This is a story about a lawyer who used to work as a subordinate in the company my dad works in. She used to make loads. I know nothing about how much lawyers make in America but I heard its a lot. She really hated her life as a lawyer. She was too busy to even spend. It was a really unhealthy lifestyle. So, she worked for my dad, which had a pretty low income. She liked her life a lot more. Its kind of funny how my dad got to use her as a lawyer sometimes when the company had trouble. What happened was that he got scammed in America. Some organization offered "free" furniture and obviously he accepted it. Then the bills came. So, he asked the lawyer to take care of it. She filed some documents and everything was back to normal.
Then, there is this person who came back to the company that my dad works in, after leaving to join an oil company. The oil company definitely paid a lot more. But, like the lawyer, he hated his job. So, he quitted and came back. Its because the company my dad works in is quite chill. Well, still the local workers don't like the unfair treatment.
Let me explain how Korean employment works. There would be regular members and contract members. Regular members get into the company through hard exams that they spend couple of years to get in. The contract members usually just do an interview and get in. The work they do are similar but the regular members manages the contract members. The treatment is very different. The wages, welfare and respect are different. There is no guarantee that the contract members would be respected. Often they are looked down on. So, there are problems in this system.
Its dumb. Well society is dumb. Then again, I should worry about myself more.
